Hello, friends. In this post, you will learn how to install Brave Web browser on CentOS 9 Stream. This is one of the best alternative web browsers you can use.

What is Brave?

Brave is an open-source web browser based on Chromium, created by Brave Software company in 2016, founded by Mozilla Project co-founder and JavaScript creator Brendan Eich.

One of the main features of Brave is that it is focused on speed and privacy. That’s why it includes an Ad Blocker that makes browsing more efficient and also more private.

With Brave, you can quickly import bookmarks, extensions and even saved passwords. This makes migration from other browsers almost immediate.

Being based on Chromium, we can install many extensions and thus further extend the potential of the browser.

Brave is not present in the official CentOS 9 Stream repositories, but we can install it from an external repository provided by the Brave developers.

So open a terminal and update the whole system

sudo dnf update

Next, install a package needed to add the repository in question

sudo dnf install dnf-plugins-core

Next, add the Brave repository

sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo https://brave-browser-rpm-release.s3.brave.com/x86_64/

In order for the repository to work, we need to add the GPG key of the repository.

sudo rpm --import https://brave-browser-rpm-release.s3.brave.com/brave-core.asc

Now, install Brave on CentOS 9 Stream by running the following command

sudo dnf install brave-browser

Then just run it from the main menu.
